Bring the brown rice and water to a boil in a saucepan. Mango sticky rice is served warm or chilled, and it is usually eaten with a fork or spoon. It is sometimes eaten with the hands.

The ingredients needed to make Mango rice:
  1. Take First of all boil rice:
  2. Prepare 1 bowl basmati rice
  3. Prepare 2 tsp oil
  4. Get For tadka
  5. Prepare 1 large raw mango (grated)
  6. Get 4-5 tsp cooking oil
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  8. Get few curry leaves
  9. Get Handful raw peanuts with skin
  10. Make ready 10 cashew nuts
  11. Make ready 3-4 tsp chana dal
  12. Get 3 small sliced green chilli
  13. Get 1 tsp turmeric
  14. Get to taste red chilli powder and salt according
  15. Get 2 handful grated coconut

This is a simple but flavorful and satisfying light lunch! Soak rice in cold water to cover overnight. Drain rice well in a sieve. Set sieve over a large deep saucepan of simmering water (sieve should not touch water) and steam rice, covered with a kitchen.

Steps to make Mango rice:
  1. Boil the rice as we normally do but do add 2tsp cooking oil in it.
  2. On a medium heat, in a pan add oil, add mustard seeds, raw peanuts, and chana dal, fry for minute or Peanuts change colour.
  3. Also add cashew nuts, green chilli and curry leaves. Mix well.
  4. Add grated coconut, grated mango, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and mix well
  5. Cook on low heat covered, till mangos are soft
  6. Last, add boiled rice and gently mix it. And mango rice is ready!!
  7. You can add add lemon juice if you think rice is not enough tangy.

Mango sticky rice (khao neow mamuang / ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง) is an amazing and authentic Thai dessert. It is typical street food in Thailand, especially during summer, when mango is in season. This dessert is also popular in other South East Asia countries, including my hometown, Malaysia. Raw mango rice is also known as Mangai Sadam or Mamidikaya Pulihora. There is another version of mango rice from Karnataka cuisine known as mavinakayi chitranna.
