  14. Make ready Ghee
  15. Prepare Panch phoran (jeera, rai, methidana, kalonji, saunf)

This Bengali khichuri recipe is always made during durga puja festival. The khichuri is made fragrant by tempering whole garam masala or spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. It's been raining a lot lately. As it pours outside with dark clouds surrounding the environment, Bengalis everywhere crave for Khichuri.

Instructions to make Khichuri:
  1. Roast mung dal till it is brown….keep aside
  2. In cooker, add ghee…add full garam masalas and panch phoran….add washed vegetables…
  3. Add dry masalas….add the roasted dal
  4. Add rice….add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles
  5. Serve hot
