- Wash and soak the black Channa for 6 hrs or overnight.
- Now pressure cook the Channa with enough water to soak, salt and Ginger. Give it upto 5 whistles.
- Once the pressure comes down, filter the water from Channa and take out the ginger pieces.
- In a pan, add oil when hot add mustard seeds, urad dal, green chilli and Curry leaves and once they splutters add the cooked Channa.
- Now the Sundal is ready to eat.
- If you want you can add onion while tempering and after taking from heat also grated coconut can be added.
It's one of the easy and quick sundal variety that we can make. It makes the chana to cook faster. The strained water from the cooked black chana can be used to make rasam. Black chana sundal can also be prepared as a side dish for your meals or as a healthy snack too apart from preparing it for special occasions and pooja.
