- Make ready 100 g caster sugar
- Prepare 100 g butter

This Apple Tarte Tatin is my absolute favorite apple dessert, with tart Granny smith apples caramelized in a buttery and sweet sauce, and a tender short crust base. As apple tarts go in France, I don't think you'll find more iconic than the classic Tarte Tatin. Peel the apples, cut in half and then into quarters. Use a small turning or paring knife to remove the seeds.
Instructions to make Apple Tart Tatin:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6
- Core and quarter the apples (you van peel as well but i left it on)
- Tip the butter, cinnamon and sugar into a frying pan, place over a high heat and wait until bubbling
- Stir the sauce until it starts to seperate
- Lay the apples in the pan and cook for 10 minutes, slowly sturing
- At this point you can take the apples out of the pan and lay them back in nicely. However you don't have to do this
- Drape the pastry over the sauce and apples, tuck the edges down the side of the pan and under the fruit
- Pierce the pastry a few times then bake for 15 minutes
- Reduce the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas 5 until the pastry is golden
- Leave the tart to stand for about 10 minutes and…
